- On a public road or footpath
- In a public park or open space without council permission
- Within 50m of a building being used for healthcare
- Near livestock, horses or other animals
๐จ Penalties for misuse
Using fireworks during curfew hours, throwing or misusing fireworks in public, or selling to under-18s can result in fines of up to ยฃ5,000 and/or up to 6 months' imprisonment. Councils can also issue Fixed Penalty Notices of ยฃ90.

Organisers of public displays require a licence from their local council. Display companies must hold appropriate public liability insurance and all shooters must be trained pyrotechnicians. Find a licensed display company โ
